Zlatan Ibrahimovic: PSG striker reveals he is ‘in shape’ for summer move to the Premier League

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has opened up the prospect of a summer move to the Premier League by insisting he is “in shape” to play in England when he leaves Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The Swedish forward, who memorably rejected the opportunity of a trial at Arsenal as a youngster by claiming “Zlatan doesn’t do trials”, highlighted his continuing ability to perform at the highest level by scoring in PSG’s Champions League round-of-16 first-leg victory against Chelsea at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

But with his £12m-a-year contract with the French champions due to expire this summer, Ibrahimovic has confirmed that he will seek a new challenge at the end of this season.

The 34-year-old is expected to move to the MLS in 2017, with David Beckham’s Miami franchise understood to be a potential destination, but when asked whether he would consider a year in England, the former Milan and Barcelona forward said: “I have another three months here and then what will happen?

“Big things will happen, so let’s see what happens. Let’s just say I am in shape [for the Premier League].”

PSG go into their second leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 9 March having secured a 2-1 advantage following Edinson Cavani’s late winner.

But Ibrahimovic warned that Guus Hiddink’s team have the ability to end the Ligue 1 leaders’ Champions League ambitions next month.

“I think Chelsea is a fantastic team, because they are not doing as well as they normally do in the Premier League, it doesn’t mean it is a weak team, it is a strong team,” Ibrahimovic said.

“They have fantastic players and we knew it wouldn’t be easy.”
